Softball Recap: Lincoln Mustangs vs. Washington Eagles

Lincoln stacked a seventh blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They blew past the Washington Eagles 12-5. That's more bragging rights for Lincoln, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Ventura Van-Zandt was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off 11 hits (and only one walk). Van-Zandt has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive pitching appearances. Van-Zandt was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Corinne Yazzie was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Quincy Fong-McAdams was another key contributor, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

Lincoln's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-4. As for Washington, they haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-4.

Lincoln is on the road again on Saturday to play Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory at 1:30 p.m. As for Washington, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Balboa at 3:30 p.m. on April 30th.
