Soccer Game Preview: Eagle River vs. West Anchorage

Eagle River is 0-10 against West Anchorage since May of 2016 but things could change on Thursday. Wolves are taking a road trip to take on the Eagles at 5:30 p.m. Eagle River has given up an average of 5.4 goals per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Eagle River is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alaska's top teams: South Anchorage, who was ranked third at the time (Eagle River was ranked 12th). Wolves came up short against the Wolverines on Thursday, falling 6-0.

Meanwhile, West Anchorage came tearing into Tuesday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.6 goals), and they left with even more momentum. Their defense stepped up to hand the Cougars a 4-0 shutout. Considering West Anchorage have won six matches by more than three goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

They hit Service with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Xander Blue (2), Adoum Abakarabdou, and Luca Driscoll.

West Anchorage's win bumped their record up to 7-1-1. As for Eagle River, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.

Eagle River might still be hurting after the 6-0 loss they got from West Anchorage in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Can Wolves avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
