Baseball Recap: Sumner Comes Up Short

After flying high against Jonesport-Beals on Tuesday, Sumner came back down to earth. The Tigers took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the George Stevens Academy Eagles on Friday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-3 two weeks ago.

Sumner now has a losing record of 4-5. As for George Stevens Academy, their win bumped their record up to 5-2.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Sumner will square off against rival Dexter at 4:30 p.m. on the 30th. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Sumner 3.6, Dexter 1.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, George Stevens Academy is set to take on their familiar foe Washington Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
