Football Recap: Germantown Piles Up the Points Against Pearl

Germantown got themselves on the board against Pearl on Friday, but Pearl never followed suit. They blew past the Pirates, posting a 55-0 win. That 55 point margin sets a new team best for the Mavericks this season.

King White continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 285 yards and four touchdowns while completing 84.2% of his passes, and also rushing for 33 yards and one score. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (163.9). Lawson Branson was another key player, picking up 137 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

The victory made it two in a row for Germantown and bumps their season record up to 3-2. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 28 points in those games. As for Pearl, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.

Germantown and Pearl will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matchups. The next time the Mavericks see the field they'll take on Starkville at 7:00 p.m. on October 10. As for Pearl, their break will end when they face Meridian at 7:00 p.m. on October 10.
