Soccer Game Preview: Westover vs. Seventy-First

The Westover Wolverines will face off against the Seventy-First Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Westover's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for four straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Westover lost 5-1 to St. Pauls on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, Westover can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 560th, while St. Pauls are ranked 225th).

Westover's goal came courtesy of Dashaun Tapps, who's now up to eight this season.

Meanwhile, Seventy-First kept a clean sheet against E.E. Smith on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Golden Bulls with a sharp 5-0 victory. Seventy-First haven't had any issues with E.E. Smith recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Westover's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Seventy-First, their victory bumped their record up to 4-10-2.

Everything went Westover's way against Seventy-First when the teams last played back in August of 2022, as Westover made off with a 5-2 win. Do the Wolverines have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Falcons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
