Volleyball Recap: Lyons Falls Short Against Ranked Downers Grove North

Lyons faced Downers Grove North in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Lions fell 2-0 to the Trojans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-0 on Saturday.

While Lyons ultimately came up short, they really made Downers Grove North work, particularly in the first set. The final score came out to 27-25, 25-15.

Among those leading the charge was Ethan Weiner, who had 17 assists and four digs. He is on a roll when it comes to assists, as he's now posted 14 or more in each of the last four games he's played.

Lyons' defeat dropped their record down to 15-5. As for Downers Grove North, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-2 record this season.

Lyons will head out to take on Hinsdale South at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Downers Grove North, they will be playing at home against Naperville North at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing is sure in the Trojans' favor as the squad sits on nine straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while the Huskies have been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road.
