Basketball Recap: Wednesday's Victory Is Desoto's 21st in Last 22 Outings

With a playoff win on the line, DeSoto rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Sylva Bay Academy Saints 60-24. The Thunderbirds have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 20 games by 21 points or more this season.

DeSoto's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emmy Barnes, who went 8-for-14 on her way to 18 points along with six boards and three steals. Barnes is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in each of the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylee Jo Holder, who posted 15 points in addition to six steals and five rebounds.

DeSoto was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sylva Bay Academy only posted one assist.

DeSoto is on a roll lately: they've won 21 of their last 22 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 32-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.8 points over those games. As for Sylva Bay Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 14-14.

DeSoto didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 60-33 victory against Benton Academy on the 14th. Sylva Bay Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
