Softball Recap: St. Pauls Gets the Win

St. Pauls proved they can win big on Monday (they won by 15) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Heide Trask Titans, sneaking past 4-2. This was payback for the Bulldogs, who suffered a 13-7 loss the last time these two teams met.

Kayla Williams spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Angel Purcell, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. Ke'Mya Baldwin was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

St. Pauls is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. As for Heide Trask, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-8 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Pauls will host Midway at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Heide Trask, they will welcome Pender at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Titans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 9.1 runs per game this season.
