Volleyball Game Preview: Middletown Middies vs. Mason Comets

For the first time this season, Middletown will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will host the Mason Comets at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Last Monday, Middletown came up short against Taylor and fell 3-1. The loss continues a trend for the Middies in their meetings with the Yellowjackets: they've now lost three in a row.

Middletown started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-12, 25-19, 25-18.

Meanwhile, Mason entered their contest against Lakota East on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Comets came up short against the Thunderhawks, falling 3-0. The game marked the first time this season in which the Comets were not able to get on the board.

While Mason was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Lakota East's winning margin in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-15, 25-23.

Mason's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-3. As for Middletown, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.
