Basketball Recap: Swansboro Pirates vs. Dixon Bulldogs

The Swansboro Pirates came tearing into Wednesday's contest with 14 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 73-40 victory over Dixon. Swansboro has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Swansboro's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tayvion Tangiora, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds. Tangiora is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonah Holt, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds.

When it comes to explaining why Dixon lost, one person who can't be blamed is Brayden Anderson-Sidbury. Despite the final result, he scored 12 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Anderson-Sidbury hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Grady Adams, who scored 11 points.

Swansboro pushed their record up to 16-1 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home. As for Dixon, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-11.

Swansboro will head out on the road to take on the Cougars at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. Croatan will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 160th, while the Pirates are ranked 38th). As for Dixon, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Vikings at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in White Oak's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matches.
