Recap: Trinity Christian Academy Conquerors vs. Stanton Blue Devils
The Trinity Christian Academy Conquerors were the 52-34 winner over the Stanton Blue Devils when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Trinity Christian Academy took a 61-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of Stanton on Tuesday. Trinity Christian Academy has been going strong on the season, but this is now their second defeat in a row.
Despite the defeat, Trinity Christian Academy had strong showings from Ethan Wheeler, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds, and Cameron Anderson, who scored 11 points along with seven steals and six rebounds. That's the first time this season that Wheeler scored 15 or more points. Jordan Martinez was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Even though they lost, Trinity Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Stanton only pulled down ten offensive rebounds.
Leading Stanton to victory were Surafel Cummings and David Burton. Cummings scored 17 points along with six rebounds and three steals, while Burton dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Burton hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Christian Ricks, who scored 11 points.
Trinity Christian Academy's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 9-5. As for Stanton, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Trinity Christian Academy will take on Zarephath Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Stanton, they will play host again and welcome Englewood, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
