Basketball Game Preview: Roosevelt Rough Riders vs. Barberton Magics

The Roosevelt Rough Riders will square off against the Barberton Magics at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

On Monday, Roosevelt opened the new year with a less-than-successful 54-45 loss to Twinsburg. The Rough Riders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Barberton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were dealt a 60-33 loss at the hands of Tallmadge. While losing is never fun, the Magics can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 611th, while the Blue Devils are ranked 83rd).

Roosevelt's defeat dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Barberton, their loss dropped their record down to 1-9.

Roosevelt strolled past Barberton when the teams last played back in December of 2024 by a score of 48-32. The rematch might be a little tougher for Roosevelt since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
