The Merritt Island Mustangs are taking a road trip to square off against the Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
On Friday, Merritt Island made easy work of Wheaton Academy and carried off a 13-3 victory. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won eight matches by eight runs or more so far this season.
Braeden Rouleau made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed four innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, Grant Arnold was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Ty Brandes also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Merritt Island always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .607. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wheaton Academy only posted an OBP of .292.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy). They blew past Calvary Chapel Academy 18-3 on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won four in a row.
Devon Jackameit was a standout: he scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Roman Carlson, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and one run.
Merritt Island is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy, their record is now 7-10.
Everything went Merritt Island's way against Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy in their previous meeting back in April of 2023, as Merritt Island made off with a 15-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
