Recap: Howland Tigers vs. Boardman Spartans
Even though the Howland Tigers have not done well against the Boardman Spartans recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Howland walked away with a 52-42 win over Boardman. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Howland also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Howland was led to victory by John Perry and Alex Henry. Perry dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds, while Henry dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Perry has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Chieffo, who scored eight points along with four steals.
Despite the loss, Boardman still got an impressive performance from Grayson Eicher, who scored ten points along with five rebounds. Noah Ziak was another key contributor, scoring six points along with three steals.
The win got Howland back to even at 7-7. As for Boardman, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.
Howland's road trip will continue as they head out to face Harding at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. As for Boardman, they will be playing at home against Canfield at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Canfield presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Boardman in Ohio (Canfield is ranked 69th, while Boardman is ranked 470th).
