Football Recap: Taft Comes Up Short

Taft had lost six straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 4-6 to make it seven. They were outmatched by the George West Longhorns and fell 69-32. The Greyhounds were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-20.

As for George West, the win keeps them at an undefeated 10-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 14.2 points on average this season.

Kohen Blount was his usual excellent self, rushing for 123 yards and four touchdowns. He also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, forcing one fumble and making six total tackles (1.5 for loss).

Taft and George West are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Greyhounds will face off against Poth on Thursday. The Pirates' defense has only allowed 11.9 points per game this season, so Taft's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for George West, they will take on Karnes City at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
