Baseball Recap: Ash Fork/Seligman Starts Season with Victory Against Joseph City

Ash Fork/Seligman had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They put the hurt on the Joseph City Wildcats with a sharp 14-1 victory. The win was some much needed relief for the Spartans as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Branson Milius made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, Ash Fork/Seligman let John Cauthen and Miclo Ayala run wild. Cauthen scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Ayala went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was D. J. Godinez, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Ash Fork/Seligman always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .676. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Joseph City only posted an OBP of .190.
