Softball Recap: Thomas A. Edison Takes a Loss

Thomas A. Edison was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 20-9 to Nueva Esperanza. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Owls of the 13-10 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Omalis Rivera was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Zachira Gonzalez was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Thomas A. Edison's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Nueva Esperanza, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Thomas A. Edison will face off against Prep Charter at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Owls will need to watch out since the Huskies have now posted at least ten runs every time they've taken the field this season. As for Nueva Esperanza, they will challenge Masterman at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Masterman has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16 runs per game on average), something Nueva Esperanza will no doubt try to take advantage of.
