The Leonard Lancers will head out on the road to face off against the Royal Palm Beach Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Leonard made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Berean Christian, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Leonard blew past Berean Christian 18-3 on Tuesday. The Lancers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by 15 runs or more this season.

Yanina Varela was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in earned runs (zero). She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. She is also on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in three or more in each of the last three games she's played.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Arianna Sheerer, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Dayanara Gonzalez was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Leonard always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .765. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .536 or higher in five consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Royal Palm Beach). They were the clear victor by a 20-3 margin over Lake Worth on Tuesday. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Valeria Mejia was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-2. She also put up an RBI, which was her first of the season.
Leonard's record now sits at 4-5. As for Royal Palm Beach, their record is now 2-6.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Leonard hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .398. However, it's not like Royal Palm Beach struggles in that department as they've averaged .330. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Leonard might still be hurting after the 33-23 defeat they got from Royal Palm Beach in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Leonard avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
