Recap: Donna North Chiefs vs. Harlingen South Hawks
This season hasn't been kind to the Donna North Chiefs, who are still winless after their 27th matchup. They were dealt a 70-8 loss at the hands of Harlingen South on Tuesday. Donna North has not had much luck with Harlingen South recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Jiselle Montemayor continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Harlingen South, scoring 22 points along with nine steals and five assists. Montemayor is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Serena Cano, who scored ten points along with six assists and three steals.
Donna North's defeat was their 16th straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 0-27. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 18.2 points per game. As for Harlingen South, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 games, which provided a nice bump to their 22-9 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Donna North will take on Veterans Memorial at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Veterans Memorial will be looking to extend their current 13-game winning streak. As for Harlingen South, they will be playing at home against Porter at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Porter has now lost 17 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 14.
