Soccer Game Preview: South View vs. Lumberton

The South View Tigers will face off against the Lumberton Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. South View will be strutting in after a win while Lumberton will be coming in after a defeat.

South View's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Douglas Byrd with a sharp 9-0 victory. The result was nothing new for South View, who have now won five contests by five goals or more so far this season.

Their offense was hitting Douglas Byrd from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal. Jaliyah DeJesus led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for three goals all by herself.

Meanwhile, Lumberton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 6-0 to Gray's Creek. While losing is never fun, Lumberton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 387th, while Gray's Creek are ranked 165th).

Lumberton's defeat dropped their record down to 5-12-1. As for South View, the win got them back to even at 6-6.

South View skirted past Lumberton 3-2 in their previous matchup back in March. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Pirates turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
