Basketball Game Preview: Dixie County Bears vs. Chiefland Indians

The Dixie County Bears and the Chiefland Indians will face off at 6:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played.

Dixie County is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Fort White on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Dixie County was beaten by Fort White 66-27. The Bears were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-12.

Meanwhile, Chiefland came tearing into Thursday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took their match with ease, bagging a 60-17 victory over the Wolves. The Indians have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 22 points or more this season.

Chiefland found their leader in sophomore Nyasia Bivins, who posted 25 points and six rebounds. Bivins' evening made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Laila Ingram, who had eight points and nine steals.

Chiefland's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points per game. As for Dixie County, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.

Dixie County might still be hurting after the 55-34 loss they got from Chiefland when the teams last played back in February. Can Dixie County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
