Softball Recap: Leonard Comes Up Short

If Leonard was riding high fresh off their 20-3 takedown of Atlantic Christian last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Lancers came up short against the Somerset Academy - Canyons Cougars on Monday, falling 19-8. The Lancers were not able to make up for their loss to the Cougars from their previous meeting back in April of 2023.

Arianna Sheerer was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. Dayanara Gonzalez was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

Leonard's defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Somerset Academy - Canyons, their record now sits at 5-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Leonard will square off against Forest Hill at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Falcons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.77 runs per game on average), something the Lancers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Somerset Academy - Canyons, they will take on Olympic Heights at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
