Preview: Laguna Beach Breakers vs. San Clemente Tritons
Two dominant players in Dylan Mceachern and Porter Hansen are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Laguna Beach Breakers's road trip will continue as they head out to face the San Clemente Tritons at 7:00 p.m. on December 13th. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Saturday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Laguna Beach beat Tesoro 51-46. Given Laguna Beach's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 139th, while Tesoro is ranked 396th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
San Clemente has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 21 points or more this season. They put the hurt on Irvine with a sharp 58-33 victory on Monday. The victory was nothing new for San Clemente as they're now sitting on three straight.
Hansen was his usual excellent self, scoring 14 points along with five rebounds and three blocks. The match was his ninth in a row with at least ten points. Will Whidden was another key contributor, scoring six points along with three steals.
Laguna Beach is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for San Clemente, their victory bumped their record up to 10-3.
Laguna Beach came up short against San Clemente in their previous meeting two weeks ago, falling 63-52. Can Laguna Beach avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
