Football Recap: Irondequoit Starts Season with Victory Against Wilson Magnet

Irondequoit took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Friday. They claimed a resounding 59-0 win over the Wilson Magnet Wildcats. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Eagles' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 175th, while the Wildcats are ranked 477th).

Josh Barr had a dynamite game, picking up 66 receiving yards and three scores, while also rushing for 41 yards and one TD. Those three receiving touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Eric Torres Iii was another key player, throwing for 123 yards and three touchdowns while completing 90% of his passes.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Irondequoit's defense and their four sacks. Daeshawn Johnson was especially locked on to Wilson Magnet's QB and sacked him twice.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Irondequoit will face off against rival Gates Chili at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Wilson Magnet is set to square off against their familiar foe Churchville-Chili at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
