Volleyball Recap: Sturgis Comes Up Short

Sturgis was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the DeWitt Panthers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Trojans of the 2-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Payton Terwilliger went supernova For DeWitt., getting 21 digs and three aces. Those 21 digs gave Terwilliger a new career-high. Avery Benson also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Sturgis' loss dropped their record down to 7-17-3. As for DeWitt, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 18-13-1.

Sturgis didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 defeat against Bronson on the 18th. As for DeWitt, they have also already played their next matchup, a 2-0 loss against Grand Haven on the 18th.
