Basketball Recap: Oscar Smith's Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Oscar Smith won against Currituck County last Friday with 50 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Saturday. The Oscar Smith Tigers walked away with a 50-38 victory over the Pasquotank County Panthers. The win was familiar territory for the Tigers who have now won three matches in a row.

Oscar Smith's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Zyonna Ellis led the charge by dropping a double-double on ten points and 14 boards. The dominant performance also gave Ellis a new career-high in steals (six). Another player making a difference was Mahkayla Reid, who posted five points in addition to eight steals and five boards.

Oscar Smith smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 25 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

The victory got Oscar Smith back to even at 4-4. As for Pasquotank County, they dropped their record down to 2-7 with the loss, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.
