Baseball Recap: Chaparral Triumphs

Chaparral won the last time they faced Roosevelt and things went their way on Tuesday too. Chaparral came out on top against Roosevelt by a score of 6-2.

Jaiden Lopez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over six innings pitched. Lopez was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-6. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Sebastian Zuniga looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

Lopez wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Griffin Fien, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-5.

Chaparral's record now sits at 8-3. As for Roosevelt, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season.

Chaparral will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Murrieta Mesa at 3:30 p.m. on April 7. As for Roosevelt, they have already played their next match, a 10-5 win against Murrieta Valley on the 26th.
