Basketball Recap: Nine Straight Home Victories for Timnath

Timnath and Northridge faced off in a Battle of the Bears on Tuesday. The Timnath Cubs strolled past the Northridge Grizzlies with points to spare, taking the game 53-37. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cubs.

Timnath's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tiana Guzman led the charge by going 7 for 11 en route to 20 points and four steals. That's the most points Guzman has posted since back in January of 2024. Olivia Zadeh was another key player, going 5 of 7 on her way to 14 points and six boards.

Northridge's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Sophia Carbajal, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 15 rebounds, and Bailey McGeen, who posted 14 points. The matchup was Carbajal's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Samantha Jackson, who earned two points.

Timnath's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.4 points per game. As for Northridge, they moved to 8-7 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Timnath will challenge Greeley Central at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
