While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was the Hurricanes who were credited with the win. The Cape Fear Academy Hurricanes got it done in the shootout by posting four goals to the John Paul II Catholic Saints's one. This was a revenge game for Cape Fear Academy: when they faced off against John Paul II Catholic back in September, they had to take a 2-1 loss.

Cape Fear Academy's one-goal win came courtesy of Vance Mino, who's now up to eight this season.

Cape Fear Academy's victory bumped their record up to 10-5-1. As for John Paul II Catholic, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 17-1-1.
