Preview: Yorktown Wildcats vs. Woodsboro Eagles

Yorktown is on a three-game streak of home losses, Woodsboro an eight-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The Yorktown Wildcats will take on the Woodsboro Eagles at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Yorktown suffered their biggest defeat since December 9, 2023 on Friday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 65-43 walloping at the hands of Skidmore-Tynan. While losing is never fun, Yorktown can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1701st, while Skidmore-Tynan is ranked 683rd).

Meanwhile, Woodsboro lost to Port Aransas on the road by a decisive 58-41 margin on Friday.

Woodsboro's loss came about despite a quality game from Taggart Silvas, who scored 18 points along with four steals and two blocks. Another player making a difference was Jordan Zena, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and four steals.

Yorktown's defeat dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Woodsboro, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-19 record this season.

Yorktown came up short against Woodsboro when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 48-44. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Silvas, who scored 13 points along with six steals. Now that Yorktown knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
