Preview: North Stokes Vikings vs. East Wilkes Cardinals
North Stokes is 0-5 against East Wilkes since September of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The North Stokes Vikings will be playing in front of their home fans against the East Wilkes Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. North Stokes is out to stop a eight-game streak of losses at home.
Two weeks ago, North Stokes came up short against South Stokes and fell 28-21.
The losing side was boosted by Amos Stanbery, who rushed for 119 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries. Ethen Garcia also helped out as he racked up 111 rushing yards.
Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous three contests, East Wilkes brought some dynamite into their most recent matchup. They put the hurt on Alleghany with a sharp 33-7 win on Friday. The result was nothing new for East Wilkes, who have now won three matchups by 26 points or more so far this season.
Austin Nash and Tristan Alkire were among the main playmakers for East Wilkes as the former rushed for 61 yards and three touchdowns and the latter rushed for 151 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries. Alkire was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 68 yards.
North Stokes' defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for East Wilkes, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
North Stokes was dealt a bruising 42-0 defeat at the hands of East Wilkes in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Will North Stokes have more luck at home instead of on the road?
