Basketball Recap: Auburndale Comes Up Short

Auburndale came up into this matchup off a tough 27-point loss last Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Fort Meade Miners by a score of 37-35 on Monday. The Bloodhounds have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, Auburndale saw an underclassman step up: freshman Makyla Jones posted 18 points along with five assists and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jarkara Holland, who earned nine points.

Auburndale's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Fort Meade, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Auburndale won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Lake Gibson at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fort Meade will take on Ridgeview Global Studies Academy in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
