Basketball Recap: Fayette Comes Up Short

It was a Battle of the Birds when Fayette faced off against Clopton on Friday. The Fayette Falcons were beaten by the Clopton Hawks 80-47. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 279th, while the Hawks are ranked 55th).

Leading Clopton to victory were Charleigh Spoonster and Tinleigh Spoonster. Charleigh went 12 of 18 en route to 28 points in addition to seven assists and six steals, while Tinleigh went 8 for 17 on her way to 21 points and four steals. Charleigh's morning made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rileigh Kuntz, who posted seven points along with seven boards and five steals.

Fayette's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Clopton, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-2.

Fayette didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 52-43 win against North Callaway on the 20th. As for Clopton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 66-35 victory against Elsberry on the 20th.
