Softball Recap: Midview Has No Trouble Against Strongsville

Midview won the last time they faced Strongsville and things went their way on Saturday too. The Middies blew past the Mustangs 11-2. That's two games straight that the Middies have won by exactly nine runs.

Savannah Holcomb made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nina Ballachino, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Mallory Hechko, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double.

Midview was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .378. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Strongsville only posted a batting average of .231.

The win made it two in a row for Midview and bumps their season record up to 2-4. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games. As for Strongsville, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Midview will head out to take on Steele at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. The Comets' pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so the Middies' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Strongsville, they will challenge Mentor at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
