Baseball Recap: Hickory Comes Up Short

After flying high against Oil City on Monday, Hickory came back down to earth. The Hornets fell 11-6 to the Franklin Knights on Wednesday. While the Hornets didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Knights 4-0 in the first period.

Bryson Applegarth was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one triple.

Hickory has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season. As for Franklin, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-7.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Hickory will challenge rival Slippery Rock at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Franklin is set to square off against their familiar foe Grove City at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
