Baseball Recap: West Memphis Takes a Loss

West Memphis was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 13-2 to the Batesville Pioneers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pioneers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-2 on Tuesday.

West Memphis saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caleb Kuhn, who scored a run and stole four bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Kuhn also hit a double, marking his first of the season.

West Memphis' loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Batesville, the win got them back to even at 6-6.

West Memphis and Batesville could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Arkansas Rankings. The Blue Devils will face off against Greene County Tech at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (147 vs. 50). Meanwhile, Batesville (ranked 120th) will meet Mountain Home (ranked 11th) at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
