Baseball Recap: Mount Si Extends Winning Streak to Three

Mount Si entered their tilt with Newport - Bellevue on Monday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Knights 11-1. That's more bragging rights for the Wildcats, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Alex Martinez got the start for Mount Si and what a start it was: he didn't allow a single earned run over 5.2 innings pitched. Martinez has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jimmy Pratapas and Chase Mentink did most of the damage at the plate: Pratapas went a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Mentink went 3-for-5 with three RBI and two doubles. Those three hits gave Mentink a new career-high. EJ Foster was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Mount Si was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. They are 4-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Mount Si now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Newport - Bellevue, their loss dropped their record down to 5-8.

Mount Si will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Knights: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
