Volleyball Recap: Landrum Takes a Loss

Landrum lost against Broome back in August of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Cardinals fell just short of the Centurions by a score of 2-1. While the Cardinals didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Centurions 25-13 in the first set.

Landrum started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 13-25, 26-24, 25-15.

Halie Cantrell paced Landrum's offense, picking up ten kills. Cantrell got some help from Maddie Smith and her 20 assists. Ella Wilkie controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

This is the second loss in a row for Landrum and nudges their season record down to 1-2. As for Broome, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Coincidentally, Landrum and Broome will both be playing First Presbyterian Academy at Shannon Forest the next time they take the court. The Cardinals will host the Crusaders at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, while the Centurions will play them later in the day, at 6:30 p.m.
