Baseball Recap: Presbyterian Christian Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Presbyterian Christian, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They blew past the St. Joseph Catholic Bruins 8-1 on Tuesday. That's more bragging rights for the Bobcats, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Bankston Walters made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Reed Bridges was incredible, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jet Henderson, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Presbyterian Christian hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Joseph Catholic struck out 12 times.

Presbyterian Christian pushed their record up to 13-10 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for St. Joseph Catholic, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-12.

Presbyterian Christian will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bruins: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
