Basketball Recap: Dreanne Garcia's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Holmes over Marshall

Holmes was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 45-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Marshall Rams. The Huskies were probably out for revenge after losing 43-39 to them when the teams met back in November of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Several Huskies players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dreanne Garcia, who posted eight points and four steals. Garcia is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Darlene Doboyou was another key player, putting up seven points.

Holmes' defeat dropped their record down to 13-11. As for Marshall, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-11.

Holmes and Marshall should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Holmes (ranked 331st) will meet San Antonio Memorial (ranked 1505th) at 12:30 p.m. on Friday. Holmes is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.3 points per game this season. Meanwhile, Marshall (ranked 504th) will meet Stevens (ranked 1268th) at 2:30 p.m. on Friday.
