Softball Recap: Nine Straight Home Victories for Chazy

Chazy strolled into their game on Monday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They were the clear victors by a 26-4 margin over the Wells Wells CSD. That's more bragging rights for the Eagles, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Stephanie Barriere made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits. Barriere was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kennedy Columbus, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Pender Bechard was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four runs, two RBI, and one double.

Chazy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .767. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive matches.

Chazy pushed their record up to 5-0 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.7 runs over those games. As for Wells, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Chazy will take on rival Bolton Central at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Chazy 3.2, Bolton Central 3) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Wells is set to challenge their familiar foe Lake Placid at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
