Baseball Recap: Sulligent Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Sulligent's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They put the hurt on the Hackleburg Panthers with a sharp 19-9 win. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Blue Devils as it put an end to their eight-game losing streak.

Sulligent got a massive performance out of Ethan Stiles, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four hits gave Stiles a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Will Barnett, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one triple.

Sulligent always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .638. They are 4-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Sulligent's win bumped their record up to 8-15. As for Hackleburg, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 19-10.

Looking ahead, Sulligent will face off against Hamilton at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Blue Devils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Aggies have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season. As for Hackleburg, they will challenge Winston County at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
