Football Game Preview: Mullen Broncos vs. Bayard Tigers

The Mullen Broncos will head out to take on the Bayard Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Mullen's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.

On Thursday, Mullen lost to Sandhills/Thedford at home by a 48-32 margin. The matchup marked the Broncos' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the defeat, Mullen got top-tier performance from Alex Werner, who rushed for 150 yards and four scores, and also picked up 66 receiving yards and one TD. Werner is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 106 every time he's taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Bayard was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They had to suffer through a 55-8 loss at the hands of Maxwell.

Having lost for the first time this season, Mullen fell to 6-1. As for Bayard, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.

Everything came up roses for Mullen against Bayard when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 78-12 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Broncos since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
