Basketball Recap: Lakeside Takes a Loss

Lakeside lost against Evans last Saturday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Lakeside Panthers took a 40-25 bruising from the Evans Knights. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 223rd, while the Knights are ranked 73rd).

When it comes to explaining why Lakeside lost, don't look at Kobi Barnes. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Barnes is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last ten games she's played. Another player making a difference was JoJo Jones, who posted no points along with six rebounds and six steals.

Evans found their leader in sophomore Chabria Tate, who almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Kimariya Hinton, who scored four points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals.

Lakeside has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season. As for Evans, their victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-2.

Lakeside didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 48-33 defeat against Evans on the 6th. As for Evans, they have also already played their next matchup, a 65-46 win against Effingham County on the 4th.
