Basketball Recap: Brockway Comes Up Short

Brockway and Kane squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Brockway had to settle for second. They had to suffer through a 62-35 loss at the hands of the Kane Wolves. The Rovers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wolves earlier this season, when they won 47-42.

Brockway lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Sophia Schmader, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and ten boards. She has been hot recently, having posted nine or more rebounds the last four times she's played. Kalina Powell was another key player, putting up six points.

Kane found their leader in freshman Addison Haight, who dropped a double-double with 22 points and 13 boards. Haight also grabbed five steals, which is notable because Kane is 11-4 when she posts at least five steals, but 2-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Isabella Saf, who went 5-for-10 to rack up 14 points in addition to eight rebounds and three blocks.

This is the second loss in a row for Brockway and nudges their season record down to 8-14. As for Kane, their record now sits at 13-9.

Brockway does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Kane, they and Redbank Valley will meet in a dog eat dog contest at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Redbank Valley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.1 points per game this season.
