Softball Recap: South Warren Picks Up Seventh Consecutive Victory

South Warren waltzed into their contest on Saturday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They blew past the Trigg County Wildcats 11-1. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 24 games by six runs or more this season.

Layla Ogden made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Kinleigh Russell was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 11 matches. Another player making a difference was McLaine Hudson, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

South Warren was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .387 or higher in five consecutive contests.

South Warren's win bumped their record up to 29-3. As for Trigg County, their defeat dropped their record down to 20-15.

As of now, neither South Warren nor the Wildcats have any future games scheduled.
