Volleyball Recap: Gretna East Takes a Loss

Gretna East was the 2-1 winner over Bennington when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Griffins fell just short of the Badgers by a score of 2-1 on Saturday. The Griffins have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Gretna East sadly wound up on the wrong side. The final score came out to 25-14, 19-25, 25-16.

Bennington's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ella Marcinek, who had five aces and four digs. Those four digs gave Marcinek a new career-high. Trina Schroeder was another key player, getting ten digs and three assists.

Gretna East's defeat dropped their record down to 10-17. As for Bennington, their victory bumped their record up to 13-8.

Gretna East didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-1 loss against Elkhorn on the 11th. As for Bennington, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Standing Bear on the 11th.
