Baseball Recap: Purdue Broad Ripple Takes a Loss

Purdue Broad Ripple couldn't beat Herron on Friday even though they stacked seven runs on them in the third inning. The Lynx lost 17-11 to the Achaeans. The Lynx were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Achaeans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.

Carter Brooks made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. He has become a key player for Purdue Broad Ripple: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-7 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Mateo Bushfield, who got on base in two of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Purdue Broad Ripple's loss dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Herron, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.

Purdue Broad Ripple and Herron are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Lynx will face off against Anderson Prep Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Purdue Broad Ripple is facing the Jets at the right time seeing as the Jets are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Herron, they will take on Indianapolis Shortridge at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
