Soccer Game Preview: Monte Vista Christian vs. Gonzales

The Monte Vista Christian Mustangs will head out on the road to challenge the Gonzales Spartans at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Monte Vista Christian's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Monte Vista Christian is headed into Wednesday's following a draw, the team's first since December 12. They and Pacific Collegiate finished up their match with a 0-0 draw on Monday.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Gonzales). They put the hurt on North Monterey County with a sharp 5-2 victory on Monday. Jorge Uribe was a massive factor in the win as he booted in three goals all by himself.

With that draw, Monte Vista Christian's record moves to 3-3-2. As for Gonzales, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2-3 record this season.

Monte Vista Christian came up short against Gonzales when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 3-1. Can Monte Vista Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
