Volleyball Recap: Lakewood Ranch's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Lakewood Ranch had won four straight games and Mariana Alvarez did her part to make it five on Thursday. The Mustangs came out on top against the Palmetto Tigers by a score of 3-1 with plenty of help from Alvarez, who had 14 digs and two assists. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 12 or more in each of the last five games she's played.

Lakewood Ranch had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 14-25, 25-10, 25-12, 25-17.

Lakewood Ranch's win bumped their record up to 17-8. As for Palmetto, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-10.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Lakewood Ranch is set to challenge their familiar foe Manatee at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Palmetto will square off against rival Parrish Community at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
